Set along the banks of the Nile with uninterrupted views from the water’s edge, and a mere 20 minute taxi ride from Luxor Airport, lies the captivating Hilton Luxor Resort and Spa. The Hotel’s proximity to the East Bank attractions should not be overlooked and it’s the perfect base whilst in Luxor.

Once known as the ancient city of Thebes and the capital of Upper Egypt during the New Kingdom, Luxor has become an increasingly popular tourist destination with its status as the gateway to the World’s greatest open-air museum, housing the beautiful ruins of Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple. As a result of its popularity Luxor is now home to a number of luxury accommodation options, the Hilton Luxor Resort and Spa ranking high amongst them.

Rooms

Guests have the option to choose between 236 stylish and spacious rooms and suites located in the hotel’s main building, which offer traditional designs blended with warm and rich hues inspired by the Egyptian landscape. Additionally, interconnecting rooms are available if you are travelling with family or in larger groups.

Each room boasts a bright and airy atmosphere throughout the day, and by nightfall the heavily draped curtains offer a respite from the early morning rays, allowing you a blissful slumber. A highlight is the large walk-in shower equipped with luxuriously scented amenities, providing the perfect high-pressure cascade, the ideal antidote to wash away the day’s adventures.

If you have the option, I highly recommend reserving a room that offers a view of the River Nile. There’s an inexplicable serenity and tranquillity that washes over you as you greet the day with the sight of the sun-kissed waters glistening in the morning light.

Culinary Delights

Each dining experience at one of the Hotel’s outlets is a culinary delight, offering your tastebuds the chance to explore some of the finest cuisine in Luxor.

For breakfast, guests are greeted by an array of exotic fruits, artisanal cereals, and tantalizing flavoured yogurts. The spread also boasts a selection of local delicacies and timeless continental favourites, all presented in a feast for the senses. For those with more specific cravings, the room features two dynamic live cooking stations where skilled chefs craft delectable eggs, waffles, and crepes right before your eyes.

During the day guests have the pleasure of indulging in a diverse array of culinary delights at Olives, the charming poolside eatery. Meanwhile, they can satiate their thirst with a choice from the extensive beverage selection available at the poolside bar. There’s nothing quite like sipping on a chilled Margarita whilst basking in the sun, which was my daily ritual!

As night falls, guests are treated to a range of dining options. Silk Road specialises in Asian cuisine with arguably the best Indian food in Egypt, and each bite of the velvety Butter Chicken and creamy Dal Makhani is an explosion of exquisite flavours.  It was so delicious that we returned here twice!

However the real showstopper is the Egyptian dinner experience. Picture yourself along the tranquil banks of the Nile, reclining on plush cushions atop vibrant, meticulously crafted rugs, enveloped by a spellbinding display of lanterns. Here, you’ll indulge in an assortment of delectable Egyptian cold and hot mezzes, succulent grilled meats, and irresistibly sweet baklavas, all while the sun gracefully sets over the enchanting banks of the Nile. As daylight fades, the sky transforms from a vivid canvas of orange and pink tones to a velvety expanse, punctuated by the twinkle of stars, casting a magical glow.

Following dinner guests have the option to relax in Diwan, the Hotel’s chic shisha cafe, where Egyptian traditions and hospitality meet western elegance and modernity. Here, you can indulge in an array of Arabian-style teas and Turkish coffees, or you can delve into your adventurous side by sampling one of the fruit-flavoured shishas (I recommend the apple and mint flavour, it was great!).

Wellness Redefined

To help you recharge after a day of exploring Luxor’s rich history, you can indulge in a rejuvenating treatment at one of the 12 spa treatment rooms. There is also the Jannah tea bar, centred with a lulling water feature, from which you can enjoy light and healthy snacks, smoothies or a soothing cup of tea before or after treatments. This sanctuary ensures you depart the Spa Zone feeling entirely revitalised. Following your treatment, bask in the luxury of the Spa’s infinity pool overlooking the River Nile and affording you a first row seat of the mesmerising sunset. Alternatively you can also enjoy sunset from the Hotel’s main pool which offers a unique benefit compared to the Spa’s infinity pool, being it’s very own swim-up bar.

If you’re booked into the Spa Suite Room, a world of indulgence awaits. Here, you’ll find your own secluded whirlpool, a sumptuous steam room, a blissful foot reflexology basin, a dedicated spa treatment chamber, and a separate lounge for ultimate relaxation. It’s an invitation to consider staying within the confines of this haven, reluctant to venture beyond.

Sailing Experience

Hilton Luxor Resort and Spa offers a plethora of unforgettable experiences, but none quite compare to the enchanting traditional Felucca sunset sail. This exclusive adventure is made possible by the hotel’s private jetty, providing seamless access to motorized boats or the graceful Felucca sailboat, available for your pleasure at any hour of the day. As the sun descends, casting its golden hues upon the river, the temperature becomes more agreeable, and a gentle breeze unfurls, creating idyllic sailing conditions.

Embarking on this private voyage along the tranquil waters of the Nile, bathed in the hues of a breath-taking sunset, is an experience beyond compare, and all within the confines of your own company. The cost for this one-hour private sailing escapade is a mere 500 Egyptian pounds, roughly equivalent to £13. Indulge in this peaceful escape, and let the river’s embrace carry you into a world of unparalleled serenity.

In a Nutshell

Hilton Luxor Resort and Spa embodies timeless luxury in a contemporary era. The staff effortlessly blend attentive service with a respect for your privacy, creating an impeccable stay. With its exquisite setting and top-tier service and dining options, this establishment promises a departure that leaves you feeling instantly revitalised and invigorated.

  1. I will be there in 10 days, staying for 9 days. I am so thrilled. One question I have is, do you need a reservation for the felucca sailing?
